Laura earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture from University of Texas at Arlington in 2007. Following her education, Laura secured a position with VLK Architects in Arlington, Texas working as a designer in the educational sector. There, Laura worked on Aledo ISD new indoor practice field, Aledo technology and security center, Aledo 9th grade center and on multiple additions and renovations, including Safehaven women’s shelter, Boswell High School, and Saginaw Elementary School. Laura was involved in providing construction documents, developing designs in the schematic and design development phases, material selection, as well as assisting in various marketing material from competitions to RFQ’s. Additionally, Laura provided the design for VLK Architect’s 25th Anniversary book and video.
Laura currently volunteers as a walking tour docent for Dallas Center for Architecture. DCFA provides two tours – Arts District Architecture Tour and Main Street District Architecture Tour. DCFA serves to build collaborative relationships among allied organizations and the academic community; to serve as a center of learning for the public and industry professionals; to influence public policy on issues of sustainable community planning and the built environment; and to promote the value of architecture and community planning in Dallas and surrounding communities. In her free time, Laura enjoys blogging, digital photography, professional networking, architecture, non-profit volunteering, design, public speaking, sustainability, sporting events, sketching, camping nights, biking, weekend trips, and family time. Laura is open for an opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment in which I can use my design and construction skills in a team-orientated environment. She is currently pursuing her architect’s license in the state of Texas.
